Our Determination

Since its founding in 1982, Koufudo has sold Buddhist altars and accessories for the SGI. Together with our mentor, we will continue to deliver our products with Soka Spirit. We are determined to cater to the needs of our fellow SGI members, while fighting with all of you without a moment of hesitation to achieve our common goal—Kousen-rufu.

You may have the image that many Buddhist altars and accessories are manufactured in Japan. However, it is much more common to see non-Japanese products in the market in the recent years. Also, it is becoming increasingly difficult to deliver made in Japan products, which is the hallmark of high-quality Buddhist altars and accessories.

In the midst of this market climate, we have been upholding our motto—"to deliver better products even a little.” We have been directly negotiating with well-reputed manufacturers to deliver quality products at a reasonable price. In addition, we have traveled around the country vising small to mid-size companies to make a direct contract with many highly skilled crafters, and we now have an excellent line of  original products.Please enjoy our unique products, which you won’t find anywhere else.  To this end, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of our customers for their continued patronage. Koufudo today would not have been possible without their support.

Our Signature Product: the Wall-Hanging/Mounting Butsudan

We have developed our product—the Wall-Hanging/Mounting Butsudan—with the earnest hope to see that all new SGI members, and young men and women’s division members enshrine their Gohonzon without any qualms.In the product development process, we conducted a number of interviews with SGI youth members and we learned that many of them were hesitating to enshrine their Gohonzon saying that:

“I don’t want my friends or colleagues asking about the Butsudan.”

“There is no space to put even a small Butsudan.”

We took these voices to our heart, and finally in 2013 after 10 years of trials and errors, in we managed to develop the Wall-Hanging/Mounting Butsudan, which we take pride in.

The Wall-Hanging/Mounting Butsudan is easy and safe to install. Its stability when properly installed has been constantly well-received. It brings you courage and resolve to chant. We have been receiving many letters of joy from not only youth members but also those who have non-SGI members in their families and nursing home residents. We would like to share this joy with many future SGI members. With this wish, we deliver our finest.
